Is the suite close to the beach, and what are the pool options?
The resort sits back from the coastline, so guests use the free beach shuttle to reach the beach area. On site there are 4 outdoor pools and a swim-up bar. The pool bars include Tao, Xpu Ha and the Sian Ka'an Beach Bar, which are open from about 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Akumal Beach, known for swimming with sea turtles, is roughly a 7-minute drive away.
What dining can I expect as a guest in this suite?
Yal-Ku is the main buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and walk-ins are welcome. Alux (gourmet) and Maiko (Asian) are adults-only à la carte restaurants. Both need a reservation, have a semi-formal dress code and serve dinner from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. El Cenote is the casual poolside snack bar, and Tikal is the main lobby bar.
Is the Superior Suite a good choice for couples or a longer stay?
Yes. The resort is adults-only, and the suite combines a king bed, a stocked minibar, a desk, free Wi-Fi and daily housekeeping. For downtime, Bahia Spa offers Mayan-inspired treatments, and golfers can play the on-site course. Golf fees are not part of the all-inclusive rate, and spa treatments cost extra.
What should I know before booking that the room description doesn't mention?
The resort has no elevators. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. Late check-out is subject to availability and carries a fee. A mandatory usage fee of 10 USD per person, per stay applies and is payable by credit card. You will need photo ID and a credit card at check-in. Foreign guests also need to complete Mexico's visitor tax (Visitax) form before departure.
